Jeffrey Corwin, born on 11 July 1967, is an American television personality and animal and nature conservationist, who became famous for his shows “The Jeff Corwin Experience” and “Corwin Quest” both shown on the Animal Planet network.

Born in Norwell, Massachusetts, of part-Hungarian and Romanian descent (father), Corwin spent his high school years in Norwell High School where his love for animals started. When he was 16, he was able to become part of a group of scientists who explored the forest of Belize in Central America. Upon coming back to the United States, he decided to pursue his passion for the environment and turn it into a career.

He earned his degree in Biology and Anthropology from the University of Massachusetts-Bridgewater. He continued with his graduate studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, finishing with a master of science degree in wildlife and fisheries conservation. He also became a certified Advanced Field Medical Specialist by the USA Army Academy of Health Sciences.

After becoming a prolific lecturer about the conservation of nature, in 1994 Corwin became part of “The JASON Project”, in which he became the expedition naturalist. His appearance in the documentary became the start of his career on television and also helped his net worth to grow.

In 1997, Disney Channel gave him his own show – “Going Wild with Jeff Corwin” – making him a household name; the show ended in 1999. A year later, cable network Animal Planet partnered with him in two shows entitled “Jeff Corwin Experience” and “Corwin’s Quest”, which propelled his television career to new heights, giving him a much larger audience base. Through his show he was able to explore the planet while educating his audience about his passion and advocacies.

In 2007, the network Travel Channel teamed up with Corwin for the show “Into Alaska with Jeff Corwin”. He also worked with various shows and documentaries to shed a light on the current state of the planet. Some of these projects have included “Anderson Cooper 360”, “Feeling the Heat” and “Future Earth: 100 Heartbeats”. His other endeavours also helped raise his wealth throughout the years.

Aside from his television shows, Corwin is also a board member of Defenders of Wildlife, and is actively participating in the efforts to help save the wildlife that have been affected in the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010.

Today, Corwin is still active in television. He recently ended his show “Ocean Mysteries with Jeff Corwin” that started in 2011, and started a new show in ABC entitled “Ocean Treks with Jeff Corwin”.
