With the much awaited 28 Years Later, director Danny Boyle and writer Alex Garland are making a comeback to the horror genre more than two decades after the groundbreaking zombie movie 28 Days Later. 28 Days Later, which is often credited with igniting the zombie craze of the 2000s, centers on Jim, an ordinary bicycle courier played by Cillian Murphy, who awakens from a month-long coma to discover that London has been overrun by a zombie rage virus.

28 Years Later Expected Cast

Although the cast of 28 Years Later hasn’t been revealed, actors from the first two movies have indicated that they would be interested in playing the same parts again. Notably, Cillian Murphy, who is expected to win his first Oscar for Oppenheimer, announced that he would do a third movie. He stated to CinePOP in 2021, “I never say never.”

28 Years Later Potential Plot

Although the title of the film 28 Years Later suggests otherwise, we would probably witness the UK (and possibly the rest of the world) in the early stages of the fury virus, some thirty years after its initial spread. The last scene in 28 Weeks Later was unsettling, in contrast to the optimistic ending of the previous film, which showed Murphy and his friends surviving the virus long enough for the infected to starve to death.

After killing Don, Flynn takes Tammy and Andy from Wembley and flies them to France over the English Channel, not realizing that Andy is the virus’ carrier. Soon after, a swarm of zombies is seen sprinting across Paris in the direction of the Eiffel Tower, indicating that the infection has spread to all of continental Europe.
