Chanan Safir Colman, an Israeli-Danish professional basketball player for Hapoel Haifa in the Israel Basketball Premier League, was born on March 10, 1984. Colman, who was born in Israel, was brought up in Gladsaxe, Denmark, by a Jewish mother and a Jewish father.

At the age of nine, he started his first basketball season. Chanan acknowledged that he is trilingual in Danish, English, and Hebrew. Since 2014, Colman has served as the director of Camp Colman, an annual basketball camp in Denmark that welcomes hundreds of kids between the ages of 8 and 19.

Before going pro, Colman played basketball for Chipola in Denmark, Israel, and Finland. Colman won the MVP award for the Danish League in 2012 and the Finnish League Finals in 2006.

2004 was the start of Colman’s professional career in Finland with the Lappeenrannan NMKY group. During his first two seasons at Lappeenrannan, Colman twice won the Finnish League and the Finnish Cup. Also, he received MVP recognition during the 2006 Finnish League Finals.

On July 31, 2013, Colman agreed to represent Hapoel Jerusalem in the 2013–2014 season. Colman, however, ended his affiliation with Jerusalem on February 19, 2014, and chose to play the remaining games of the campaign with Maccabi Rishon LeZion.
